Satin grew up
in a musical family, with his father as his inspiration
for love of music. He started playing percussion
from the age of 9 and played professionally from
the age of 14. Since starting his career in London,
Satin has studied and played a wide range of percussive
instruments. He has also worked in musical forms
from Africa, Cuba, Brazil and India and a variety
of styles such as latin, jazz, funk, dance and
popular music. Satin also teaches, and has worked
at all the major festivals in the U.K. He has
played with various artists
including Stevie Wonder, Stevie Winwood, Supergrass,
Katie Melua, Dionne Warwick, Robin Jones, Lonnie
Liston Smith, Transglobal Underground, Roy Ayers,
Dave Valentine and many others.
This masterclass will focus on
practicing routines, personal energy and attitude,
independence, and tips on how to play on clave,
with practical examples of standard Afro-Cuban
techniques.
Whether you are a timbales, conga or bongo player
you will find food for thought as Satin masters
all of them.
