Hot, hot, hot!
A big shout out to everyone who performed at the Summer Show. What a cracking night! The standard has definitely improved on previous years and it was great to hear a more diverse repertoire. Really well done to all involved! Of course a big thanks also to the house band, Vladimir and Peter, for all their effort and, as always, great playing.
This month has been a busy one for me personally...
It occurred to me there are some similarities with their respective performances. A band, like a garden needs to be well thought out. Components need to be carefully selected and positioned to bring out the best in them. They need love and care (sometimes on a daily basis) to make sure they have everything they need to produce the best harvest.
Weeding is very important, keeping members on their toes so they don’t let the grass grow under their feet! And of course, nourishment. Adding new material to the set list helps to keep everyone fresh and interested. Tea and coffee at rehearsals goes down pretty well too!
With festivals in Bristol and Cornwall
Already eating the cucumbers, lettuce, courgettes and peas. Now waiting for the tomatoes!
Unfortunately the butterflies made a mockery of my attempt at keeping them netted out and caterpillars destroyed the kale, cauliflowers and broccoli. Feels like people stealing your chops!
To sum up I guess I should say congratulations to France for (luckily) winning the World Cup. Well done France!
Do not miss out on his percussion workshop on the 23rd August!
