Just a few notes about the show I was involved with, 'The Lost Disc' running for a few nights at Shoreditch House.
As these were scratch shows (early preview shows to get it up and running), the script wasn't fully completed so required a lot of extra writing, late evenings I believe for the writers and organizing the order of everything to make a cohesive story line.
The rehearsal days consisited of mostly running through tunes and finding the correct points and cues to play particular tunes which naturally leads to endless tweaking of where the band come in and how they come in.
The idea was to take the small part of that show and expand it into its own show. The tunes were simple enough, some short jazz pieces, a country music tune or two and some 70s style 'Donavan' folksy music.
Although fairly straightforward, I was kept going and busy enough throughout the show and of course was able to get my acting chops going by way of delivering one line. I think I'm best behind a kit rather than treading the boards!
Hopefully the show will go out again in the spring of 2018
It was a lot of fun and it's great being around creative people like that, actors, writers and composers and to get a look into how these things are put together. It's definitely not a military operation and is more a flying by the seat of your pants scenario.
Looking forward to the Winter show and seeing a few of you joining, I think we are going to have a great night.
