How do I book a taster lesson?
You can buy a taster lesson on our website. Choose your preferred option for the lesson (adult or child), pay though our secure checkout by card or PayPal, and we’ll contact you about booking your taster lesson at a time that works for you.
What if I have never played music before?
No problem at all - we're here to help you learn. We'll tailor your lessons to your current level, and all of our workshops are beginner-friendly. You’ll see your confidence and skills building week by week.
What happens after the taster lesson?
We'll book your full course once you've chosen the option that suits you best: Child, Compact, Standard, 1:2 or Crash Course. We'll schedule the lessons around your availability.
What will I do in my first lesson?
If you’re a beginner, we’ll go through a warm up and basic technique exercises. We’ll cover rhythm, notation and the foundations of written music.
If you already have music experience, we’ll give you feedback on your technique and feel, and help you out with tips and tricks on how to improve.
Can I study with a friend?
Sure! We offer one to two lessons for all instruments. Just find a buddy so you can share the cost.
How long are the lessons?
50 minutes for adults or 25 minutes for children under 12, with an additional 10-minute warm-up (5 minutes for children).
What if I need to cancel my lesson?
Don't worry - just give us 24 hours' notice and we'll reschedule.
Will I always have the same teacher?
Yes, most of the time. If your regular teacher is not available, you'll have your lesson with a different Planet drum teacher. Getting varied tuition and learning different types of music will help you to become a well-rounded player. Our teachers are proficient in all styles, including jazz, classical, rock and pop.
If I start a drum course, do I need to get a drum kit straight away?
No, not necessarily. You can start off with sticks and a drumming pad for practicing your essential rudiments, and you can practice in our studios until you’re ready to start looking for a kit. Our teachers are always happy to offer their advice on choosing equipment. You can also check out our equipment page!
Can I do a mixture of online lessons and in-person lessons?
Yes, here at Planet drum we offer online lessons over Zoom or Skype, as well as in-person lessons in our London studios. You can also opt to do a mixture of both, we are flexible.
