Alain Maurel Drums, percussion I co‑created Planet Drum in 1996 with Mirko Schmitt, who now runs Planet Drum Berlin. At the school I teach drums, lead workshops and performance classes, and co‑ordinate both Trinity and Rockschool exams. It has always been a pleasure and a privilege to be part of such a unique organisation, and I’m proud of the vibrant community we’ve built. I’m deeply grateful to all our students, tutors, performers, sponsors, colleagues and everyone involved for their support and dedication over the years. |
Vladimir Gilis GUITAR, workshops I teach guitar and piano, and run band workshops at Planet drum. I studied classical piano first and then graduated at a jazz guitar conservatory. Since moving to London, I played at many of UK's leading venues and festivals including Hammersmith Apollo, Royal Festival Hall, Womad, London Jazz Festival. Some of the artists I played with include Cerys Matthews, John Reynolds, Paprika etc. I play different instruments and also write and produce my own original music. |

Louis Pocock Drums, percussion I’ve been leading drumkit and percussion workshops at Planet Drum since 2002, sharing my passion for rhythm and musical exploration. Discovering new styles has always been a source of inspiration, and I currently perform with the band Afrik Bawantu. Teaching is a central part of my life, and I enjoy guiding students of all ages and abilities as they develop their skills and confidence. Passing on the knowledge and wisdom I’ve received from my own teachers feels like the most meaningful way to honour their influence and continue the tradition of percussive artistry. |
Peter Bakaja Bass I’m Planet Drum’s bass guitar and double bass teacher, as well as the bass player in the Planet Drum house band, performing twice a year alongside our students. I studied both instruments at the Liszt Ferenc University in Budapest and now bring over 20 years of teaching experience from Hungary and the UK. Alongside my work at Planet Drum, I perform as a session musician and have played with major Hungarian acts, covering genres from jazz and funk to rock and metal. My goal is to help students develop strong technique, musicality and confidence through engaging, supportive lessons. |
Antonio Celotto Guitar, workshops I’m a multi‑instrumentalist, composer and producer from Italy, and I was delighted to join the Planet Drum team in 2019. After early piano studies, I began classical guitar training at six and later expanded into jazz, blues and rock. I’ve composed for a variety of music projects and even financed my cinema degree in Paris through my jazz/electronic fusion project, Aiguille. In 2013 I moved to London, where I began developing new folk and electronic projects. My diverse musical background now shapes my teaching, allowing me to support students with creativity, versatility and a broad artistic perspective. |

Radovan Brtko DRUMs, percussion I picked up drumsticks at the age of six and have been passionate about music ever since. Originally from Slovakia, I began my musical studies there and started touring at just 13. At 16 I moved to Edinburgh to continue my training, building more than 12 years of experience as a performer. I’ve worked, recorded, toured and collaborated with over 40 artists and bands across genres including hip‑hop, jazz, R&B, funk, EDM, pop, rock and metal. This wide musical background shapes my teaching style, and I love inspiring students and sharing the knowledge I’ve gained throughout my career. |
Valerio La Piana Drums, singing I started playing drums and singing at the age of two, following in my father’s footsteps, and I’ve never put the sticks down since. By 11 I was already working professionally while continuing to study with a range of teachers. After completing my Diploma in Sound Engineering in Rome, I moved to London in 2016 and later earned a BMus in Popular Music Performance at ICMP. I now work as a Session Drummer, Musical Director and Sound Engineer. Since joining Planet Drum in 2022, one of my biggest highlights has been teaching drums while also taking on the role of vocal coach. |
Filippo Galli drums I joined the Planet drum team in 2017 after starting drums at the age of six and developing a lifelong passion for rhythm. Since then, I’ve performed, recorded, and studied continuously, from gigging regularly as a teenager to completing a postgraduate degree in East London. I’ve contributed drums to a wide range of bands and ensembles across multiple styles. Based in London, I now work as a session drummer and perform with Flying Tailor and Fjokra. Alongside my performing career, I’m a dedicated music production teacher at Planet drum, helping students grow their creativity and confidence. |

Sebastien Solsona drums I’ve been teaching at Planet Drum since 2015 and it continues to be a rewarding part of my musical life. I trained at the National Conservatoire of Perpignan under the guidance of Mr. André Mallau and performed extensively with jazz, funk and rock bands. During the final three years of my diploma, I also taught in a French college, which strengthened my passion for education. Sharing my knowledge, experience and love for music with students of all ages is something I value deeply, and I’m proud to be part of the Planet Drum team. |
Irene Marino singing I’ve been teaching singing for over 10 years, working with all levels and especially beginners. I love helping students discover their voice, build confidence, and enjoy singing. I hold a BA (Hons) in Popular Music Performance, run singing circles, and offer flexible 1‑1 online singing lessons to fit busy schedules. Starting from your favourite style, I guide you through new genres and techniques so you can grow your range, improve pitch and breathing, and develop a strong, expressive voice. |
Keith De Barra drums I’ve enjoyed teaching and rehearsing at Planet Drum with my band since 2012, and it remains a central part of my musical life. Originally from Dublin, I studied Jazz Performance at Newpark Music Centre before continuing my training at Trinity College of Music in London.
